Before joining 9point8, Matt co-founded Venture Studio Associates, where he played a pivotal role in shaping frameworks for studio design and evaluation. His career spans roles as Partner at Savvy Tinkers Studios, Co-Founder & CPO of CogBias AI, and Innovation Principal at NCR Corporation. Earlier in his career, he founded MatterFab and RT6 Engineering, the latter of which developed hardware solutions for U.S. Special Operations and spun out a venture-backed company that raised nearly $10 million. His background in engineering includes designing next-generation electro-optical systems for defense applications, leading repair depot operations overseas, and optimizing advanced imaging technologies for military environments.
Matt is committed to driving clarity and growth in the venture studio landscape. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and their two daughters. When not at his desk or with family, he loves cooking and building—whether it’s metal 3D printer prototypes, a custom standing desk, or workbenches throughout his home. The engineer in him never rests!
